Equus
Equus is a water world, B55A858-B. The shallowest portion of the world ocean is 20 km, allowing a massive tower to be affixed to it and creating the foundation for the largest surface city. The remaining cities are part of large (multi-square-km-sized) floating islands. The TL B makes these islands floating cities, since they can be tied together and operate as a single island. The engines keep the island in certain latitude bands and to get away from storms. As a result, the following rumor table talks about the themes of the floating islands.
Use the following:
- Throw 2D6 and cross index the result.
- False - make up something false.
- Table - go to the appropriate sub-table and follow the instructions (supplied later)
- Entry - read the rumor and allow the PC to treat the rumor how he see's fit.
The Equus table can be used for any Equus starport or Equus planet location.
Notes:
I created the rumor table to accompany the patron table for a planet. I wanted a means to pass information that would in turn lead to the player characters to seek out a patron. I opted that about 1/6 of the rumors were false, where I've left it up to the referee to determine. I've also created the possibility to get rumors that are relevant to larger scales, Galactic, Imperium, Sector, Subsector, and System. Lastly, there is a social standing based table. There is no hard and fast rules on how many of these entries are put on the table. I came up with this distribution for Equus. However, I can imagine a world with low population that has a single d6 rumor table.
The additional tables will be provided later a I build out this sandbox. These rumors are intended to connect with the patron table, leading to potential jobs and or adventure hooks. If the players stay at a planet for multiple rumor cycles, rumors can be removed from the table and additional rumors can be added in their place.
